Kelp Cooking & Handling
Alaska Natives have existed and thrived in these lands since time immemorial, sustained by the rich abundance of Southeast Alaska’s waters and forests. Seaweeds have long been part of Indigenous diets here—harvested with deep knowledge, care, and respect as nutritious, seasonal foods tied to culture, trade, and survival. We acknowledge that we live and work on the ancestral homelands of the Lingít Aani and other Alaska Native Peoples, whose stewardship has shaped these ecosystems for generations. We are with deep respect for Lingít Aaní and the Southeast Alaska Native Peoples, we are honored to farm the waters of Southeast Alaska and to do so in gratitude for the generations of stewardship, knowledge, and care that have sustained these marine ecosystems.
